Binomial Multiplication

The general form is shown first:

$(x+a)(x+b)=x^{2}+ax+bx+ab$

Several famous binomial multiplications are shown below:

$(a-b)(a-b)=a^{2}-2ab+b^{2}$ $(a+b)(a+b)=a^{2}+2ab+b^{2}$ $(a-bi)(a+bi)=a^{2}+b^{2}$

Appendix A

Some work in calculus requires us to multiply (x+t) together several times and then construct a general formula.

$(x+t)^n$

for n=2:

$x^2 + 2xt +t^2$

for n=3:

$x^3 + 3x^2t + 3xt^2 + t^3$
