Linear Operator

Let A() be an operator. If a is a linear operator then the following two statements are true:

A(kx) = kA(x) {k is a constant}

A(x + y)=A(x) +A(y)

k comes from a field.

Differentiation is an example of a linear operator.

\dfrac{d}{dx}f(ax)=a\dfrac{d}{dx}f(x)
