Lorentz Factor

\gamma = \dfrac {1} {\sqrt{1 - \dfrac {v^2} {c^2}}}

This factor appears in several calculations. notice that for \dfrac {v^2} {c^2} the denominator is going to be HUGE because c is very large and we’re squaring it. Given a small number for v, we end up subtracting zero from one, making the overall denominator the square root of 1 (very close to it) and since the square root of 1 is 1, gamma ends up being 1/1 which is 1 and a factor equal to 1 has no effect on a product.
