Matter

Matter as including anything that occupies volume and has mass. All matter is constructed from the atoms on the Periodic Table.

Almost all atoms are joined with other atoms to form Molecules. This involves one atom interacting with another atom to either exchange or share electrons.

Back to the atom: it is comprised of neutrons, protons and electrons.

These things can be divided into “ingredients” that we call Elementary Particles.

An electron that is not bound to a nucleus is its own elementary particle.

Protons and Neutrons are composed of Quarks.

Appendix A

Matter is one of those things that can end up in definitions that are circular.

We might define matter as anything that has mass, and then define mass as being the defining property of matter.

Energy and Ideas lack mass.
