Point Slope Formula

A point slope formula calculates the slope of the tangent line that will go through a point.

The ideas will surely feel strange, and perhaps we can help this with an example.

Assume the function

f(x)=x^2

The point (0,0) is on this function.

For all x values greater than 0, f(x)>0.

For all x values less than 0, f(x)<0.

Therefore, the line defined by f(x)=0 will only intersect f(x) at the single point (0,0).
