Ratios

There is a problem:

Textbooks will suggest 1:3 and 1/3 imply the same thing. They don’t.

“For a fraction, the denominator is the total of equal parts for a whole. For a ratio, the two numbers represent the comparisons. Create a fraction, we need to add these two numbers together for the denominator.

1:3 implies 1/4 and 3/4.
